Wedding Photographer: Italy and UK | Destination Wedding Photographer

You've found my old website. Please see amyturner.photography for a more up-to-date web experience!

Welcome! I'm a Brit abroad! I've lived in beautiful Umbria for over 9 years and photograph weddings throughout Italy, particularly in Tuscany & Umbria. However, I also travel to photograph weddings wherever they take me - true destination weddings.

If you're British and having a destination wedding abroad, you benefit particularly by having a UK-registered business to deal with. Obviously insurance & legal protection is relevant and payment is straight-forward since transactions are all in Sterling (GBP) and with British banks. This avoids the unpredictable nature of currency rates - which for some reason have a habit of always going in the wrong direction - isn't that the truth?!

Whether you're planning a destination wedding or plan to stay closer to home & would like to receive my pricing guide, please drop me a line & tell me about your plans - Ciao! Amy x

Wedding Photographer Rome: Wedding Ceremony

When choosing your wedding photographer, great images should be the biggest priority. I planned my wedding in Italy on an incredibly small budget. I sacrificed guest numbers, bridesmaids, flowers, cake, cars and much more for a BRILLIANT wedding photographer who worked a limited number of hours. An excellent wedding photographer will create more images to treasure in a short amount of time than an average wedding photographer would over a much longer period. Wedding Albums can be created later but if you end up with poor images, there's nothing you can ever do to change that.

I guarantee to capture many, many beautiful images regardless of how short your wedding photography coverage may be.

"Hi Amy! Wow wow wow! THANK YOU both so much! Woke up unusually early this morning and picked up your email so have been looking at the photos literally all day. We absolutely love, love, love the photos! I've spent hours looking through them to tell you which ones we like the most, but it's just too hard to pick out our favourites because we think they're all amazing!"

UK, Italy or Destination Wedding?

I generally photograph weddings in Italy & UK and consider them all destination weddings. In Italy I particularly love weddings in: Tuscany (Siena, San Gimignano, Certaldo, Montepulciano, Cortona, Arezzo, Montalcino, Florence, Lucca, Pienza) Umbria (Orvieto, Montone, Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Spoleto) Venice, Rome, Verona, The Italian Lakes (Lake Garda, Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Lake Iseo, Lake Orta), The Amalfi Coast (Amalfi, Positano, Ravello), Sorrento and more.

Wedding Photographer in the UK? I'm the chosen wedding photographer for many in Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Yorkshire and Lancashire. Other counties & London wedding enquiries are equally welcome.

Need an experienced wedding photographer for your destination wedding? Destination weddings are not just holidays for a photographer! Many are happy to take a risk with your wedding & work out of their comfort zone and without their normal car-load of back-up equipment. I'm chosen by many needing an experienced specialist destination wedding photographer.

A Wedding photographer is often described by their style or approach to photographing a wedding e.g. Documentary, Reportage, Photo-journalistic (PJ), Traditional, Contemporary and so on. A professional wedding photographer should be able to encompass many different styles of photography to successfully photograph a wedding. Why have weak parts in your coverage because the photographer "doesn't do' that kind of stuff?!" Choose a wedding photographer who can cover all of your day professionally - you can't re-shoot it!

Italy

I travel the length & breadth of Italy photographing weddings. Below are some of the places that I particularly love:

Italian Lakes Wedding Photography

The Italian Lakes in the North of Italy are some of Europe's most beautiful lakes with picturesque towns, mountainous backdrops and their own micro-climates. Lake Garda, Lake Como & Lake Maggiore are the largest of the Italian Lakes. It's no wonder that they're favourite wedding destinations. As a wedding photographer, I've visited many, incredible places but the Italian Lakes never fail to impress. If you're thinking of a wedding in the Italian Lakes here are just a few names to think of. Lake Garda is the busiest for weddings, Lake Como perhaps more 'Italian' whilst Lake Maggiore is what I call the 'secret' Lake - much quieter and less well-known but equally beautiful. You can also check out my dedicated feature on the principle lakes: Lake Garda, Lake Como & Lake Maggiore:

Lake Garda: Malcesine - Malcesine Castle · Hotel Excelsior Bay · La Vecchia Malcesine · La Pace Restaurant; La Voglia | Gardone Riviera - Grand Hotel Gardone Riviera · Grand Hotel Fasano | Sirmione | Salo' | Limone sul Garda | Riva del Garda | Bardolino | Garda | Lazise | Torri del Benaco | Peschiera.

Lake Como: Bellagio - Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni | Lenno - Villa del Balbianello · Lido di Lenno | Menaggio | Como | Tremezzo - Villa Carlotta | Cadennabia - The Church of Ascension | Varenna - Villa Cipressi · Villa Monastero | Argengno | Ossuccio

Lake Maggiore: Stresa - Villa Aminta | Borromean Islands

Tuscany Wedding Photography

Situated in Central-West Italy you'll find Tuscany. As well as its well-known towns, Tuscany is famous for its great wines, olive oils, truffles, the rolling hills and stunning villas. There are an incredible number of wedding venues/locations - all of which are of course great for photography. Fancy a wedding in Tuscany? Just a few suggestions below:

Florence - La Sala Rossa · Hotel Continentale | Siena - Villa Catignano | Greve in Chianti | Radda in Chianti | Gaiole in Chianti - Badia a Coltibuono · Villa Vistarenni | San Gimingnano & Certaldo - Il Rosolaccio | Lucca | Arezzo - Il Borro | Monte San Savino - Castello di Gargonza | Bucine - Tenuta di Lupinari | Montepulciano | Montalcino | Pienza | Fiesole - Castello di Vincigliata | Artimino | Cortona

Umbria Wedding Photography

My favourite part of Italy - I live here and actually got married in Orvieto - famous for it's Orvieto Classico wine. Sometimes called the 'green heart of Italy', Umbria sits in the very centre of the country alongside Tuscany, in a landscape dominated by the Apennine Mountains. Olive oils, truffles, meats & wines feature heavily in Umbrian culture & are celebrated through the many food festivals each year in local towns & villages. It's beautiful! A wonderful Italy wedding destination - so many stunning hill-top towns, villas & castles to discover - mostly without the heavy tourism of its Tuscany neighbours.Being a wedding photographer, living here - life's a treat :)

Orvieto - La Badia | Perugia | Assisi - Castello di Petrata | Montone | Spoleto | Todi | Montecastello di Vibio - Fattoria di Vibio | Lago di Trasimeno - Il Borgia · Castiglione del lago

Amalfi Coast Wedding Photography

The Amalfi Coast is situated on a peninsular on the south-west coast of Italy & is home to some of the best views in Italy. It's an extremely popular wedding destination and it's easy to see why with many of the towns built on impossible cliff faces above the bright-blue Mediterranean sea. Due to its distance from home for me and out of respect for the local wedding photographers, I only photograph a couple of weddings each year on the Amalfi Coast. Read more in my feature on Amalfi Coast & Sorrento Weddings.

Amalfi - Hotel Miramalfi · Casa Jolie · Hotel Catherine | Ravello - Villa Cimbrone · Palazzo Sasso · Villa Rufolo · Hotel Caruso · Villa Terrazza | Positano - Palazzo Murat | Sorrento - The Cloisters · Hotel Siren | Capri

Rome Wedding Photography

What can you say about Rome? So much history! Wedding venues don't come any more impressive than the Pantheon or St Peter's Basilica in Rome. The Pantheon is my favourite building on the planet let alone Italy. Check out the link below for the surreal experience of being the Rome wedding photographer for Leo & Korie!

The Pantheon | Casina di Macchia Madama | Castello di Torcrescenza | St Peter's Basilica, The Vatican City | The Hassler Hotel | The Caracalla

Miscellaneous

Venice & Verona both offer amazing possibilities for very stylish weddings and from a wedding photographer point of view they're real treasures. But don't forget some of the other less-known regions of Italy. Castello di Montegridolfo in Emilia Romagna can hold its own with a wedding venue anywhere. I was responsible for recommending it to Kerry & Vanessa and their stunning wedding was exactly that!

Other wonderful wedding destinations in Italy:

Emilia Romagna - Castello di Montegridolfo | Venice | Verona | Le Marche

UK

When I'm in the UK (which is for several months of the year) I'm based in Cheshire but frequently travel further afield to photograph weddings.

Cheshire Wedding Photography

Some of my favourite venues for great wedding photography in Cheshire. The Peckforton Castle wedding was a particular favourite & Sandhole Oak Barn was where Andy & I were engaged - right after photographing a wedding there! Haha - a surreal, but fabulous memory :)

Peckforton Castle · Tatton Park · Arley Hall · Davenport Green Hall · Alderley Edge Hotel · Sandhole Oak Barn · Grosvenor Pulford Hotel · Statham Lodge · Nunsmere Hall Hotel · Wrenbury Hall · Mere Golf & Country Club · Crewe Hall · Rookery Hall · Mere Court Hotel · Shrigley Hall Hotel · Thornton Manor · The Glasshouse Combermere Abbey · Inglewood Manor · Mottram Hall · Rowton Hall

Yorkshire Wedding Photography

A beautiful Ripley Castle wedding this summer reminded us of the real strengths of British weddings - let's be honest, Ripley Castle is pretty stunning! Andy's family all come from Yorkshire and some still live in Yorkshire today and so any excuse to visit this beautiful part of the UK is welcome :)
Here are just a few venues to get you thinking:

Ripley Castle · Harewood House · East Riddlesden Hall · Hazlewood Castle · Allerton Castle · York Marriott Hotel · Bolton Castle · Goldsborough Hall · Crathorne Hall Hotel · Royal York Hotel · Cave Castle Hotel · Duncombe Park · Rudding Park; Rise Hall
